Despite of the recent public tensions between China and U.S, Yang Zi Gang, deputy Commissioner of the Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry of HKSAR, said with the common interest shared by two countries, no worries are needed for their future cooperation.

“True, with the bickering over Google, arms sales to Taiwan, China's currency, the Dalai Lama and Iran, tension exits between China and U.S,” Yang said. He described relations of China and U.S as a developing country versus a developed country. “China rises rapidly for its fast-paced economy development recent years, while United States declines with its own problem, like the country’s high unemployment rate,” Yang said. He said China poses a threat to United States, yet it still has a long way to go before fully developed. “China has to solve its problem like the unbalanced development, not well-developed manufacturing industry, not to mention it still has not united all its cities.”

“Yet, with the common interest shared by China and U.S in the bilateral and global relations, it’s likely for two countries to move on and cooperate with one another.” Yang perceived that though the relation of two countries is impossible to sail before the wind, “It’s likely the relations can be improved.”

Asked about internet restrictions in Mainland China, Yang said, “Restrictions are set according to the development stage of network.” He said citizens in Mainland China can enjoy freedom of speech. In response to student challenged whether restrictions can be phrased out, Yang said the central government will consider updating restrictions according to the development of network.
