The chief executive officer of Yan Oi Tong said in Shue Yan University today that the Community Care Fund threatened other charities and the universal retirement protection scheme was not suitable for Hong Kong.

"The government had added expenditure in Community Care Fund continuously but the effect was not clear to see," Lu Tak Ming, the chief executive officer of Yan Oi Tong said. Lu described Community Care Fund as a "monster" which "eats" the organizations with fewer amount of money. "Some projects of the fund had plagiarized from Yan Oi Tong," he said.

Lu said he did not perceive the universal retirement protection scheme as a multi-function cure. "How can Hong Kong, where a low tax system is adopted, to set up such kind of scheme? The scheme is related to numerous generations, like snowballing." He added that the Britain and United States also do not have this scheme but Europe got into trouble because of this scheme.

Lu said that the universal retirement protection scheme would not pose any pressure to most charities since there was no direct conflict between the work of these organisations and the scheme.
