As a former news reporters in TVB and Now channels, Ivan Man Wa Yau shared his experiences in media field. He thinks that one of the necessities emotion that a reporter should have is compassion.

Ivan said being a reporter allows you lot of chances to see something which normal people do not have the chance to encounter, like fire scenes, car accidents, natural disaster, etc.

"You have to be compassionate when you are covering the story," said Ivan, "stories about human always attract audiences." Besides compassion, Ivan thinks there is another characteristic reports should have.

"You need to be able to control your emotion, otherwise the audience may not think that you are trustworthy enough," said Ivan, "for example, if you are crying while you are doing a live broadcast. It is very likely that the audiences may think you are not able to gather the accurate information for them because you can't control your emotion." [Great explenation.]

Ivan suggested young reporters try to cope with the scenes or else, try to change their job. "Because reporters are always the first group of people who are able to see the disasters and casualties, you need to cope with the emotional challenge in order to do a great report," said Ivan.
