Since Ricky Wong Wai-key, chairman of City Telecom (H.K.) Limited, decided to launch a new free-to-air television programme in the coming year, there are many different opinions about launching more free-to-air television channels. ' It is better to have more free-to-air television companies in Hong Kong,' said Ho Yuet Fung, former Managing Director of CBS Broadcast International. ((you said 'free-to-air' 3 times in the lead alone...revise)) The exited free-to-air television companies, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Asia Television Limited (ATV), are afraid their fixed profit will be shared by City Telecom, so they go against to have new free-to-air television companies. ((5 times))

Local TV programmes were airing in Malaysia, Taiwan etc in the past. She thinks the TV broadcasting industry is now expending because there are more and more local TV programmes airing in China. ' I believe the market in Hong Kong can support more free-to-air television channels,' said Ho. There are many opportunities to get profit because of the enlarging market in Mainland. She believes the market volume is huge enough to take over the growth of new programmes and the original profit of exited television companies will not be shared.

Nowadays, many people criticized the TV dramas are insipid and flat. Ho believes the increasing number of free-to-air television companies can improve the quality of programmes in Hong Kong. The competition among different companies can push the script writers to be more creative and put more effort on their industry. Therefore, she supports to have more free-to-air television company in the market. ((8 times...way too many...revise as it is way too jumbled))
