Different online payments or wallets become famous in Hong Kong such as Alipay and Apple Pay, the officer in Consumer Council pointed out that the privacy problem is the main concern in using or banning this technology.

Victor Hung Tin-Yau, the Principal Planning and Trade Practices Officers in Consumer Council, had a talk in Shue Yan University today and discuss about the Hong Kong citizens’ consuming habits.

Hung pointed out that the technical standard of authentication of the users’ identities are not set up. Hung claimed that the face authentication’s technology is not mature, crimes may be occurred. Therefore, Hung suggested that if the technology cannot be well developed, the society will become chaotic. “Do we need to ban this technology in order to protect our privacy? We still need to study before making the conclusion,” Hung said.

For Hung, the citizens who are not sensitive to the amount on the smartphone are not suitable to use any online payment or wallet. Hung claimed that the old generation with the years of experiences, they would be sensitive and avoid excessive spending. “As the new generation cannot see the real amount of money that they have, it is necessary for them to be sensitive before they start to use online payment or wallets,” Hung said.

Beside the problems of online payment, Hung also have some opinions on the shared house in Hong Kong. There are different apartments claimed that they are shared apartments and get a less amount of rent for the grassroots. However, Hung pointed out that this is not suitable to the concept of “shared”. “If you will get any rents from the tenants in private use, this is renting but not sharing with the others,” Hung said. Hung thinks that the shared apartments should be supervised.--155105 2018年3月13日 (二) 17:25 (CST)
