Chiu Sin-chun, NOW Business program co-host, criticized that the Budget, which was presented by Financial Secretary John C Tsang last week, did not cope with the problem of fiscal deficit efficiently.

Tsang said that Hong Kong would have a severe fiscal deficit after seven years on last Wednesday. Chiu said that the "Future Fund" which comprised the Land Fund and a portion of future surpluses was not effective. Chiu thought that the Budget should mention more about the ways of the government income, for example, the government should focus in expanding the government income.

Yet, Chiu did not agree collecting consumption tax as a new tax income for the government. He said that traditionally, Hong Kong was using a simple and low tax rate system. He thought that it was hard for people to accept this action because collecting the consumption tax broke the free market system of a Hong Kong.--115028 2014年3月4日 (二) 21:43 (UTC)
