The Copyright Amendment Bill 2011, which symbolized as Internet Hong Kong Law Article 23, arouses public concern. While some saying that it will affect the freedom of speech in Hong Kong, Geordie Toh, a legal advisor, suggesting such amendment should not be set up too straight and public should aware of its concrete diction.

“The amendment is unhealthy and should not be supported if it is too harsh,” said Geordie Toh. He takes the illegal basement scandal of Henry Tong Ying-yen, the post-Chief Secretary of Administration, as an example, saying that some online re-creations are good, “I think the one putting Tang’s face onto the poster of Harry Potter and the Chamber of secret is interesting,” and added it is wired and disappointed if someone being punished by applying characters into political figures and governmental issues.

The third reading of the Copyright Amendment Bill 2011 will be held on May 7, public question if the amendment will affect the freedom of speech in Hong Kong.
