Chief Executive candidate Henry Tang Ying-yen involved in some negative news, including the unauthorized building works and extramarital affairs recently. Lai Man-cheuk, a local senior media director, said that his handling of the crisis has failed miserably.

“Crisis management is an art, and if so, handled properly, the consequences will be very serious. The most important thing is how to respond,” he said.

He said that the crisis must include losses, such as power, money or family, the loss also divided into a greater loss and smaller losses.

“The crisis is the need to pay. Sometimes, you have to pay the actual value; sometimes you have to pay the sentimental value, and sometimes you have to pay both,” he said.

He said that the game theory is the most effectively to handle a crisis well. “The key of the theory is how to solve a problem, not to win all of it, but lose the least,” he explained.

“We cannot blame Tang and it is unfair. Nowadays, politics is a new thing for the people of Hong Kong. As we know, Hong Kong's political history is, relative to foreign 200 years of history, still very young.” He said.

He said that Taiwan is a good example. When the presidential election in Taiwan was criticized for being naïve few years ago, but this year, people have a high evaluation of Taiwan's presidential election.

He said that this is a necessary stage of democratic development is not avoidable.

He said if Tang wants to gain the support of the public, he must improve the crisis management skills; otherwise he will only fall into an even greater crisis.
