In a speech delivered in Hong Kong Shue Yan University this afternoon, Loh said that DBC will see drivers as primary audiences and start to install digital radios on taxis and mini-buses in mid-September.

He expected 20,000 radios to be installed by the end of 2013.

Loh expressed that each digital radio costs one thousand dollars. The estimated total cost will be approximately 20 million dollars.

“Since drivers can still enjoy FM broadcasting with digital radio, we believe that they will welcome to the new gadget,” Loh added.

Meanwhile, Loh said that DBC will build cooperation with enterprises to foster digital radio promotion.

“DBC will sell radios to enterprises with their company logos printed on it. These enterprises will then hand out radios as souvenirs,” Loh explained.

Loh also noted that the company will make a joint effort with elderly support groups in response to an increasing interest of the elderly in health and medical broadcasting content.

“With DBC and elderly groups sharing the cost of radio together, the elderly will be able to afford a digital radio,” Loh said.
