Decreasing quality of the HK variety shows

Hong Kong, Apr. 10-- In recent years, the mainland China is undergoing a rapid development. The television industry has also improved a lot that threatens Hong Kong's status.

In 1970s, the Hong Kong television industry was in a boom. There were many successful variety shows such as "Enjoy Yourself Tonight" which impressed people in Asia(n area-delete).


"It's sad that the quality of variety shows produced in Hong Kong is dropping," said Ng Yu, a senior media director, during his speech to the general assembly of Shue Yan University.


Nowadays, the Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) nearly monopo(lies-check spelling of verb vs plural) the television industry in Hong Kong. Ng thinks that other television companies are so (week) and lack of competitive power. "There is no intention for TVB to make progress," Ng said.


On the other hand, the mainland television companies are willing to devote lots of money and time for a variety show which lead to the great successes of the programs.


It's time for the Hong Kong television companies to struggle for an improvement if they want to keep their status (as...-could use adj to specify status).
