HKSYU, 29 Mar - Danny Wong, the art director of Sing Tao Group, said that successful design draws people’s attention to a good news story.

Japanese newspaper is famous for it’s huge harmaline, outstanding color and attractive picture. Wong indicated that he support for using cartoon to make a joke on serious politicians.


“There are different needs in different age,” said Wong.


Therefore, the most important thing is to find out what target audience look for. It’s common to present a news story in different ways today. However, some people worried that people would overlook news article due to the fascinating picture. Wong pointed out what is rational is real, what is real is rational.


Take Next Media Animation as a case study, local people would rather watch videos produced by NMA on the MTR than read long news article. But good design on newspaper can attract people’s sight the first time.


On the other hand, different design should be made for different platforms in order to meet the different different reading habits.
