Documentary of Hong Kong

Local documentaries seem to be ignored by the general public, but the directors are still trying their best to show social problems through their work.

“I am lucky as my film can be performed in the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival.” said film director of My Way, Cheuk Cheung at a talk in Hong Kong Shue yan University.

“I love filming drama, but I thought that my stories can happen anytime anywhere, they are not special” said Cheuk Chueng. He thought that documentary gave him a new lens to understand Hong Kong; it acts like a bridge between him and the society.

Cheuk believed that the documentary telling Hong Kong issues are not only target the local audiences, but it is also a good way to show the local culture and social atmosphere to China, even the Asian countries and the global.

Ada Li, CNEX Foundation Manager. Documentaries also said that documentary is a valuable record for our history and culture. It is important to our next generation. However she pointed that there are much more people from China pitching stories to the CCDF (CNEX Chinese Documentary Forum) than Hong Kong. She encourage teenager to participate to the CCDF and not to hesitate pitching them when they are interested and have good story.
