Different from other countries like Korea, US or France which have more resources and funds to support junior directors filming, Hong Kong seems like running behind. Cheuk Cheung, the Director of My Way, thinks that even documentary is passive in nature which director cannot have the full control over it, it is a good way to feel about Hong Kong, to know more about the city.

“I understand that most of the Hong Kong junior directors would like to film about dramas or feature stories, because the directors can have full control over it, and so do I.” Cheuk Cheung says.

“I felt so empty when I looked back into the film that I took in 2009 Fresh Wave. At that moment, I thought the video did not have any linkages with Hong Kong. I felt so lost. And that was why I started to film a documentary later as I would like to feel more about Hong Kong and know more about it.” Cheuk Cheung says.

Another reason why Cheuk Cheung encourages junior directors to try for the documentary showcase is the relatively low production cost. Since a documentary usually only needs one camera, Cheuk says it is also more easy and convenient for junior directors to get started. --105125 2012年11月15日 (四) 00:37 (UTC)
