Hong Kong- Many have blamed that the government intervention of journalism in China. David Schlesinger, Chairman of Thomson Reuters China, said that it was true that freedom of the media was highly restricted in China.

"It is very dangerous to predict the future," said David, during the general assembly at Shue Yan University yesterday. He said that the online news of Thomson Reuters were once being removed due to the restriction by the China government. He thought that journalists should report news based on facts especially for key questions to protect themselves.

When being asked the view whether it was proper for journalists to post their opinion in social media, he said that journalists should think twice before doing so. He said that journalists should "look at everything" and shouldn't let their online speech to affect their objectivity in reporting news. "I use social media a lot but I seldom speak." David added.
