Variety shows in Mainland China become more and more popular. Now TV has cooperated with Hunan Broadcasting System to (lunch) Now Mango, an Internet cannel for broadcasting entertaining TV programs.


Senior TV producer Wilson Chin attended a sharing talk in Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. He stated that variety shows from the mainland are better than the production from Hong Kong.


“In Mainland, the program group members would search information about the artists and prepare the content of the programs for a lot time. The artists need rehearse a day before the broadcasting. ”said Chin.


On the contrary, game shows are (x) common in Hong Kong. Chin revealed that Hong Kong artists always arrive the studio half an hour before the show is recorded.


Production Manager of PCCW Ho Lee-cun, another guest in the talk, thought that only production with (earnest-missing noun it is modifying) can touch audiences.


He raised ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as an example. Hong Kong artists spent half month in Hunan for practicing, and the process was recorded.


“The artists paid (s) lot of efforts. Also, the content of the reality show was fruitful and the experience of the artists was true. It was, therefore, attractive,” said Ho.


Now Mango targets at potential entertaining programs from Mainland China, like Day Day Up, a popular Chinese talk show, and Happy Camp, a Chinese variety show, and brings them to Hong Kong audience.
