We could use email to share differerent type of files, such as pictures (e.g. .jpg, .gif, .bmp), office documents (e.g. .doc, .ppt, ).

Definitions
E mail, the abbreviation form of electronic mail. It is a interactive communication tool between users of the computer system. E mail can be used in both internet and intranet system.
It is the system for sending and receiving messages electronically over a computer network. E-mail is asynchronous and does not require the receiver of the message to be online at the time the message is sent or received. E-mail also allows a user to distribute messages to large numbers of recipients instantaneously.
Characteristics
E-mail is immediate. The mails we made could be delivered without obvious delay.
E-mail is free. We may send an e-mail to anyone or even all of our friends, without paying any charges or so-called psotage.
E-mail is personal. It takes on the characteristics of interpersonal communication and is casual and informal.
E-mail is an equalizer. It is acceptable that We send or receive e-mails to and from everyone with the same level of polite, but informal, respect.
E-mail gives us quick and easy access to your professor and peers.
Examples
In Hong Kong, the popular email would be yahoo, hotmail and gmail.

E-mail is easy to spread information. In resent years, some illegal members use e-mail as a tool to spread some false information to cheat people. As many internet users do not have enough online knowledge, or don’t concern the internet security. It makes their private information leak out and making loss.

Police are investigating an e-mail circulating that is said to be from The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. It contains links to a fraudulent website that looks similar to the bank’s Internet banking logon page. The e-mail requests that customers use a hyperlink to access the website and verify their account information by entering their user name and password.
The bank has said no such e-mails were sent to customers, and it is not connected with the fraudulent website, adding it will never ask customers to provide passwords via e-mail or verify their account information online.'

Why would people use E-mail?
1)E-mail is extremely fast,
The tranfer of information with long physical distance between individuals could be costly. E-mail acts as a bridge between individuals which lower the time of information transfering.
2)E-mail is inexpensive; cost is very low, all you need is a computer and a connection to the Internet.
3)You can send your message or attached documents when it is convenient for you and the recipient can reply when it is convenient for them,
Individuals need to be at the same place at the same time and spend the same amount of time on the same information, e-mail provide this information.
4)You can read your e-mail from anywhere in the world: wherever there is an computer with network.
Why would people hate E-mail?
1)Important/critical content / messages can get lost/blocked in fog of spam.
2)Number of emails is increasing – not enough time (nor inclination) to open and read all.
3)Email address obtained by marketer, and once given can never (or hard to) be retrieved.
4)Spoof emails creating environment of confusion and distrust about email.
