Reported by Ng Ming Kei, October 11, 2016

Alfred Chan, chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission, said that they will reduce the workers' housing allowance in order to solve their financial problem in the coming year.

He said that the commission had 3 to 4 million dollars’structural deficit due to its office rent. “I don't know why government not support our rent. I think there is historical factor behind the government's action," he said.

He said that the commission will not lower the mainly wage of workers, but will reduce around 1% to 3% housing allowance of workers next year in order to solve their financial problem. "It is just around few hundred dollars and workers can bear it," he said.

Comment:

What is structural deficit? What is the difference between deficit and structural deficit? Please refrain from using jargon and big words which even you don't understand. "Deficit"is good enough.

The speaker elaborated on what he described as the "historical factor" that lead to the government's refusal to provide support in the face of sky-rocket rent. He said the government is not happy with the EOC decision to stand behind legal protection to the LGBT. This is news. Very unfortunately, you miss the point that matters.
