Expanding market of Free TV

As three companies are waiting for the free television programme service license, more free televisions are expected to fight for the television market. Former managing director of CBS Broadcast International Asia Ho Yuet-fung said she did not agree () the competition would not make negative impact to television industry (double negatives=confusing sentence).


One of the applicants the City Telecom Ricky Wong Wai-kay has already announced that he had made a plan after getting the license. It includes recruiting actors and script writers from TVB. Although it has prepared to run free television, one question (is in doubt?). Is the Hong Kong market too small for four free televisions?


Ho believed that one more player is always better. She added that 7 millions of Hong Kong people and the people in the mainland had created a very potential market for TV. She said free television may sell their programmes (to) overseas and the mainland China.


“The mainland China is a huge market that those Honk Kong televisions should (try?). It is easier for them to cross the border and sells dramas to the mainland now,” She said.


Ho added that the time that people spend on visual material is longer that before (example?). She said it was an advantage for TV to keep audience?.
