Head hunting of television production crews started while the government was still approving the three new television broadcasting channels, said Ho Yuet-fung.

“TV producers who had, say 20 years of experience, suffered low income even they enjoyed double of it in new company,” quoted by Ho from one of the boss of the New TV channels.

Ho said the TV drama production crews were badly paid and treated in Hong Kong as there was no competition. She said the television broadcasting company did not provide enough space for crews to shoot better drama.

“In the past, there was research team which helped us, script writers, to do research on story background and find shooting field, which is luxurious nowadays,” said Ho. She said they had much time to write drama script as a week for 30 minutes.

As audience criticized stories of TV dramas nowadays suffer plagiarism, Ho said it was normal since it was popular in the past. “Some of our crews directly copied not only others’ scripts, but also the picture compositions,” she said. She thought dramas were more or less the same in stories structures.

Ho said audience should to tell TV companies what they wanted by feedback through different channels. She also encouraged teenagers who were interested in this aspect tried hard to write scripts and create unique stories. She said advancement of technology lowered the cost of distributing our own products, making filming dream possible.
