Famous director blamed for the incompetence of government officers

Hong Kong director Herman Yau said, the official was unable to govern Hong Kong, especially film and art industry.


The recent policy address, emphasizing on the promotion of film industry, for instance, setting up fund for subsidizing teenagers to visit cinema. The director held a doubt on the fund.


"I don't understand the meaning behind the policy. " Yau said.


He pointed out that, the officials in film industry were incapable to handle the development. As he said, the problem of confidence has been a deep rooted in Hong Kong history. The issue has been discussed in legislative council yesterday.


Legislator Christopher Chung, who had a meeting in council, claimed that people are now watching korean drama instead, and co-production is the the only way to survive for local film. However, Yau questioned his statemnet.


" You are not capable in something if you were not in the same industry" Yau said.


He claimed that, mainland was not the only market to thrive for. He illustrated with the Japanese film, which is also not common to be seen in mainalnd cinema.


Yau even extended the statement to politics. " the man who governed Hong Kong, is actually incompetent with the ability. " He said.
