On 4th November 2019, fewer reporters wore a helmet to protest the riots at a police press conference. Therefore, the police announced to suspend the press conference.

Felix Poon, founder and managing director of Vis Communications Consultancy Ltd., said that the police did not handle this emergency situation well when he based on the angle of public relations to analyze.

"If the reporter was not wearing a helmet, they wear protest clothes, how the police deal with this crisis?", Poon said. Even if the police was dissatisfied with the reporter's action, they still should not turn off all the lights and wireless network. “Their handling method is unsatisfactory and indecent,” he said.

Poon pointed out that a press conference should have questions and answers. Therefore, journalists have the right to ask questions to the police, but the polices have the right not to answer, so it is not good to cancel the press conference.

Poon thought that public relations are not a magician. If the situation does not change, the image of the government and police will not be improved.
