Financial expert commented the Budget is conservative

Chiu Sin Chun, the senior financial commentator in Now TV, criticized the last Budget from John Tsang as conservative and no philosophy((adjective and noun...be consistent)), at the seminar given in Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday.

Chiu pointed out that the Budget is lack of vision and shortsighted ((again)). The content of the ()Budget, which is too long, makes public have no interest on reading it. “This conservative budget is lack of long-term benefit of the investment in development of Hong Kong,” he added. Chiu believed that the financial management should have a contribution and focused on the future return measures such as education and provide the corporate incentives. Chiu also urged Hong Kong citizens should not accept the Government approach blindly and try to stay curious to analysis the policy.

The Government continues to introduce inflation-linked ibond, to increase the public investment channels. Chiu considered that introduce the ibond just borrows more money into the Treasury. It is no use if the Government didn’t make any investment. Chiu also criticized the general public simply cannot afford to stake the ibond. The result is only the subscribers can receive the ultimately benefit and the interest was earned by the taxpayer pay, that means the taxpayers pay more to fight against inflation. “ibond should be the most criticism measure for the financial sector.” Chiu added. ((a bit longwinded...some good ideas that just need to be presented clearer))
