“Post-80s” and “Post-90s” generations are always criticized from their impatient and unprofessional working attitude, like quitting jobs frequently and easily. Ma Chim Wai, James, the Executive Producer of Public & Current Affairs Section in RTHK, who has been working more than 20 years in the news industry, said that no matter what kinds of jobs people are working for, it is very important for them to find their jobs interesting in order to have a better result.

“I have been working in this news industry for more than 20 years. One day, my wife said I am the lucky one because my job is something that I like, which also can support my living. She said it is what life supposed to be, “to do what you like and what you want”. I do feel happy about what I am doing right now.” James said.

Since the news industry’s standard nowadays is becoming higher and higher, James said journalism students have to learn how to sell (tell) a story, to visualize the content, and with the aim of drawing audiences’ attention.

James also thinks that no matter it’s a story or an article, journalists have to be well-prepared. They cannot equip themselves with “un-loaded guns”-without any preparations.

“But while you are learning how to sell (present) your story, you also have to learn how to judge the validity of your information. It is always important for you to have a fair and just judgment.” James said.
