Hong Kong, Mar 6 – It is inevitable for reporters to handle breaking news. It is also the golden time for reporters to show their ability and professionalism. Ivan Yau Man Wah, former anchor in TVB, NOW TV and Cable TV said stay clam in front of the camera to be the most important.

In 1996, Carley Building Fire caused 41 dead and 81 injuries. Yau said he was depressed to see that the dead bodies were everywhere in the building. The scene of the residents seeking help behind the windows was astonished. “Why would it happened? I am not the onlookers. I am here to report.” he said. “As a reporter, we can’t show any unstable emotion to the audience, otherwise they would be affected emotionally.”

Reporters should be professional and clear what stage they are in. “It is also not easy to calm down when handling the breaking news but the responsibility and mission are always the priority.”

Yau added reporters should avoid to publish their news or opinion on the social network. They should consider the results after they publishing pieces. It is risky to bring unpredictable influence to the institution which you work for in every single news.
