Frankie Yip, the Corporate Communication Chief Manager of Hospital Authority, said it depended on doctors’ own whether the training course on mainland affairs was brainwashing or not.

“Medical profession is a lonely industry and doctors have inadequate opportunities to explore social experience,” said Yip. He stated that Special Training Course on Mainland Affairs for Hong Kong Medical Doctors was an exploratory program, which provided chances for doctors to get closer to the society, and it was important for doctors’ future work.

Yip said, doctors spent almost time on medical investigation and they lacked of social connection as a result. Therefore, the training course was a way for them to experience more and it was a voluntary participation, which had no relation to doctors’ promotion.

When asked the shortage of labor, Yip admitted the problem was still exist but there would be around 450 nursing staff to replenish the vacancies in 2018. He added that the medical services would not be reduced because of the shortage of labor, and the quality of the services would remain professional.
