Frankie Yip, Chief Manager(Corporate Communication) of Hospital Authority(HA), said that National Affairs Course has hit a nerve with the Hong Kong people.

Yip said doctor was the lonely occupation, which had few chances to the outside. So HA is always providing various training courses worldwide for doctors, except for Mainland China, there are courses in Singapore, America, Canada and etc. Doctors can communicate with outside during these training courses.

Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR will arrange medical residents a Hong Kong Doctor National Affairs course in Beijing in the coming April. This course aims at providing Hong Kong doctors how the Mainland China’s political and economic develop and healthcare system reforms. However, some doctors criticized this course, because they thought the National Affairs courses were political propaganda towards young doctors and also had nothing to do with clinical work. This arrangement obeyed the human resource policy of Hospital Authority.

Yip said, "Propaganda is quite personal depends. Even doctors choose not to attend National Affairs Course, their job rating and promotion opportunity won’t be affected. " Yip considered the brain washing critical as an emotional expression. Hong Kong people focus so hard on the Mainland-Hong Kong problem, so the course hit a nerve.
