Freedom exists in China, just different from the West

Believing the future of the world will establish by both western and eastern civilizations, Lau Nai Keung thinks that, people should not just adopt western's viewpoints but to integrate both ways of thinking together.

Lau Nai Keung, the Executive Director & Chief Organizer of Greater China Youth Online expresses his views on the new values of China to the students of Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

"'The future is about to merge both eastern and western values together,'"said Lau, quoted from Wen Jiabao,"people shall not only adopt the Western values but to take both advantages to create the future.

When a student asks about a question the freedom of speech in China may not be enough, Lau believes in the opposite way.

"Freedom of speech exists in China, only the government has some constraint on it, and it's necessary." Lau thinks that having constraints on the freedom of speech does not mean that the people in China have no freedom at all. The constraints are necessary to protect the government and also the civilian in China.

Lau stated that when a nation has no constraints at all, it will ended up in a rotten way. He points out that the freedom of exchanging information on the internet is becoming more important nowadays, but it is needed to regulate. Even in Europe and United State of America, they have their own way of regulating the internet.

"China has its own way to control the information flow on the internet, such as Europe and United States, we just have different ways on regulating." He emphasize again freedom exists in China.
