(What is a high time thought? We usually say it is hight time to think....Does Fung offer any suggestion as the next step for the movement?)

reported by Keung Yu Ching (125057), 11th November, 2014

Frederick Fung, Legislative Council member, said that it is high time thought about what to do next step as Occupy Movement is not a long-term strategy for fighting democracy.

Fung described that Occupy Movement is “the most special experience he has ever had throughout his political career”. “Occupy Movement has mobilized everyone, no matter whether they support the movement, to discuss about the track for the political reform, especially among adolescents.”

He pointed out that the younger generation was “apathetic to political issues” in the past, rarely discussing social problems such as the rent in public housing with him. “Many people including the younger phoned me to discuss about the current situation recently. I am glad that the political atmosphere is building up in Hong Kong,” said Fung.

Fung suggested that Hong Kong has entered a critical point as Hongkongers’ demand for a democratic political reform has clearly spread to the world. “We can no longer only shout out slogans for democracy. There is a general consensus among Hongkongers on what kind of political reform they truly want. We have to think about what to do next step as Occupy Movement cannot be a long term strategy to fight for democracy,” said Fung.
