Gift from God - Weibo

“The motor car accident in Wenzhou, led to a great media big outbreak in the Mainland," said the author of "Tangshan Earthquake", University of Hong Kong Journalism and Communications Research Center and China Media Project director Qian Gang. He also said that Weibo is a gift from God, and urged the mainland media to fully utilize it, we may thus be able to break through barriers from the Chinese government.

July29: Media Explosion

Qian attended a seminar at Shue Yan University today. In reference to the Wenzhou motor car accident on July 23, he knew that all the media were ordered that their reports could only refer to the Xinhua News Agency and People's Daily article, and that they were not allowed to take pictures. However, there are still many newspaper that used this accident as a headline story. On July 27, Premier Wen Jiabao ordered an investigation on the incident. Qian thinks that the start of the investigation was a chance for media to work on this issue. [What issue?] On July 29, the day of a "Media explosion", Wen's speech was reported by media. He said that if Wen’s speech were absent, "Media explosion" couldn't be done. [What is 'Media explosion'? You need to explain this term.]

Weibo is a gift from God

Qian urged the media not miss the news updates on Weibo, which is a gift from God. If we can fully use it, there is hope of breaking through barriers (News reporting) from China government. He referred to the hour before Wenzhou’s motor car accident, when someone had updated the slow traffic of motor car with pictures to Weibo.

[You never really explain why Weibo is a 'gift from God'. The implication is that it's a 'gift form God' because it can allow reporters to work around CHinese government censorship, but you never explicitly state this.]

[You have to explain new or unfamiliar terms to your audience.]
