Be Professional

Yau uses his own reporting experience of the fire at Garley Building to remind reporters to be objective and professional although there is a tragedy. “I need to calm down and control my emotion to report the news to the public. Otherwise, people may think that I am not reporting the facts with objectivity,” Yau said. It is essential to show the public with accurate information, so as to show reporters’ professional working attitude.

Be Persistent

All reporters need to face time pressure. As media is all about timeliness today, reporters need to cover breaking news immediately. Also, reporters may sometimes under great pressure due to the workload. Thus, being a successful reporter is not an easy task. “I have worked as a reporter for more than ten years. I am sure I have passion and enthusiasm towards my job and duty. The key element to work for such a long period of time is my persistence,” Yau added.
