(Where is your byline? Why not just say Chan was speaking at the Shue Yan University? Instead of "Being the executive chief....",you can simply say "As the executive..." When you said "emerge of iPhone, iPad and 3G network has resulted in reduction of newspaper circulation", Chan actually meant that the new technology would very likely to put an end to the printed media. The key word he used was "new technology". Lam, the founder of HKEJ, has made his prediction 40 years ago, a fact that you should have mentioned in your article. Your lead could be more precise and interesting, like, " Senior economic and financial news journalist, Tim Chan, described the newspaper business as a sunset industry with only about ten to twenty years to go while giving a speech at the Shue Yan University yesterday." That is just another way to write your lead.)

Senior economic and financial news journalist, Tim Chan, commented on the newspaper industry as sunset industry yesterday in a university’s journalism department.

Being the executive chief editor of Hong Kong Economic Journal (HKEJ), Chan believed that emerge of iPhone, iPad and 3G network has resulted in reduction of newspaper circulation.

Other than die-hard buyers, people especially the younger generations will not buy newspaper. Chan said during a general assembly of Hong Kong Shue Yan University that, there will be no new reader buying newspaper anymore.

“To think in an optimistic way,” said Chan, “newspaper industry may survive for the next ten or twenty years.”

“Being a journalist for one fourth of a century,” said Chan, during the university’s general assembly based on topic ‘The Importance of Economic and Financial News’. “I still don’t know what the importance (economic and financial news) is.”

Chan then quoted Lam Hang Chi, founder of HKEJ, and said, nearly all newspapers cover at least a page of economic and financial news, and this surely is an awakening of news industry and a symbol of socio-economic progress.

Chan later explained that target readers of economic and financial news “demand views more than news”.
