The candidates of Hong Kong Chief Executive election in 2017 must be nominated by nomination committee instead of all citizens, said Hao Tie Chuan, the Director-General of Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sport Affairs Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR.

Hao said, there were no clues in the Basic Law that allowed citizen nomination for chief executive election.

“Hong Kong is only a region in China, not a country. Do not to need to follow the election systems in western countries,” he said, “There were variety systems in western countries to achieve democracy. Hong Kong can have a unique system that under the Basic Law too.”

“The Occupy Central movement is stupid. No one should break the law,” Hao said, “It may be harmful to the society.”
