Hao Tie Chuan, the Director General of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs Department, Liaison Office of The Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., said that the Hong Kong Chief Executive election, 2017 should be based on the five basic law stances. He also pointed out that the requirement of democratic elections in different cities should have different standard.

Hao said that the election 2017 needs a nomination committee, which is created by the democratic progress. The election should also follow the 44th basic law condition, which is to ensure the candidate is over 40 years old and has lived in Hong Kong for 20 years or more.

Hao repeated that every single citizen, who meets the requirement, has the rights to vote, and this is the core value of a democratic system. He pointed out Hong Kong doesn’t need the westerner to design a democratic system. He thought that democracy can be achieved in different way and the history allows the existence of such diversity.
