“AIDS problem is getting more serious in the world as more and more people being infected.” Mr. Chung To, the Chairman of Chi Heng Foundation held a talk titled "Orphans created by the AIDS Epidemic in Central China" in Hong Kong Shue Yan College today to explained the current situation about AIDS around the world and he also highlighted the situation of the orphans affected by AIDS in China.

He pointed out that there are forty million people infected by AIDS in the world nowadays and there are fourteen ADIS-impacted children, which means some of them were infected by AIDS or parents of some children were died because of AIDS so they became the so-called “AIDS orphans”.

The situation in China is much more worrying. “China has the largest population in the world, if only 3% of the population in China infected by AIDS, the number of victims in China will equal to the total number of victims (forty million) in the world.” As victims in China mainly concentrate on the working class which contributes the large part of productivity, it becomes a heavy burden of the society and it is also hard for the family to make their living without the working people. It is a big social problem in China nowadays.

Mr. Chung To hopes that through getting help from Chi Heng Foundation, AIDS-impacted children can feel the caring from the society and in turns offer help to other younger AIDS-impacted children and lead them to pass through the predicament.
