Henry Tang must be the winner in CE election, says Lam

The winner of 2012 Chief Executive Election has turned obvious due to the presence of Jiang Zemin, the former President of the PRC, last Sunday after the misinformation of Jiang‘s death, said Lam Chiu-wing.

There are three nominees, Henry Tang Ying-yen, Leung Chun-ying and Albert Ho Chun-yan, who plan to join the coming CE Election. The public had mostly focused on Henry Tang and Leung (as the ability ???) and the teams between Henry Tang and Leung were evenly matched. However, the fifty-fifty situation changed since 9th October, 2011, when Jiang Zemin, the President of the People’s Republic of China, made a public appearance after the false reports of his death from Asia Television. “Jiang is still powerful and can affect the decision making of the [Chinese] Central Government. As all of you know Henry and his father have an extensive tie with Jiang, and Jiang must support Henry to be the Chief Executive, so too does the central government.” Lam Chiu-wing said in a talk to Hong Kong Shue Yan University students earlier today. With the influence of the central government, the efforts of Leung become meaningless.

On the other hand, while it is believed that Albert Ho, who announced he would be running for CE suddenly, has the lowest chance to be elected, Lam commented that it is good to have more participants. “Albert should be the underdog,” said Lam. However, more nominees means keener competition and better performance among nominees, which is sorely is needed, “albeit his participation is not so influential on the decision at all.”
