The head of Modern Media Group said that the Hong Kong version of Bloomberg Businessweek will be launched in June this year, gathering the elites of Greater China to provide global vision.
“To meet the need of modern China, we want to create a platform for the elites. If there is an internationalized magazine, it would be good to create global vision,” said Thomas Shao, the chairman of Modern Media Group, during an assembly at Hong Kong Shue Yan University.
“For a global brand like Bloomberg, I believe we have ability to provide global vision for mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan,” said Shao.
He added that the he has chosen Hong Kong to be a publish place as he admires the democracy and freedom here.
He also believes that Hong Kong needs a revolution. “As in the past 2 decades, the operation of magazine has no change. The best magazine has no global vision, only gossip magazine become the main stream,” said Shao.
He said that internationized and high-grade magazines are what Hong Kong needed.
