(Receiving Chinese fund was not enough to reveal CNA's true nature. CNA is affiliated with the Chinese government and has a semi official status. Only by underscoring this fact would the readers understand the significance of Lo trying to fight for more editorial freedom. You should at least tell your readers a little background about why June 4th is so political sensitive.)

Hong Kong China News Agency was more open-minded in recent years while facing sensitive political issues, claimed Candy Lo, the Deputy Chief Editor of Hong Kong China News Agency.

Hinder from the background of receiving Chinese fund, Hong Kong China News Agency reported the news about some sensitive political issues evasively and carefully in the past. “Now our attitude toward those issues is more opened,” Lo said.

She took June Fourth Incident as an example. She said, it was impossible for Hong Kong China News Agency to report the issue of June Fourth Incident, but it started to report five years ago.

With the openness and improvement of Chinese political system, Hong Kong China News Agency would actively strive for an all-rounded report, reported the good news and the bad news either, Lo hoped.

“Hong Kong China News Agency also had the ability and elites to write quality reports, just like the famous foreign news agencies did,” she added, “but the most obstruct is Chinese government.” We needed to give the time and space for China to improve since the condition of China was different from other developed countries, said Lo.
