Kenneth Chau, President of Technology Incubation Network, attended Shue Yan University general assembly today, said that Hong Kong people should have open attitude to the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, as it can lead Hong Kong people into the road of innovation and technology.

Chau admitted that the talent entry plan is a double-sided blade. He pointed out that presently, 90% of the research conducted in universities held by non-local students. He believes that the attitude towards technology should be open-minded as well, the policy can attract talents to Hong Kong, which spurs the innovation and technology to sprout and drive local students into relevant areas. Also, he believes that every place has its own strength. For example, the mainland and the United States are the strongest in developing electronic screens. Hong Kong should cooperate with other countries to have technical communications and gain experiences from them. ‘The “One song astounds all” idea is outdated.’ Chau said.

Regarding the difficulties of the industry facing now, Chau said that there are two major concerns. First, the parents of local students do not want their children to join the engineering career in the future, because they think that the industry cannot make them rich. This has led to a shortage of local talent. Young people in Hong Kong are restricted by their parents. They do not choose relevant subjects at the university and not willing to do researches. Another concern is the market problem. The Hong Kong market is very limited in Asia, which still far from the neighboring China and Japan. However, he believes that Hong Kong still have chances to rise as a testing platform for new technologies.--165151 2018年11月13日 (二) 18:35 (CST)
