Hong Kong is definitely not a cultural desert, a Hong Kong author who spoke at the general assembly in Shue Yan University said.


Dai Tien said a place which people live must has its own culture, the place is also full of vitality.


“Be careful that Hong Kong should not give idea that Hong Kong is a cultural desert”


“Hong Kong is a commercial society, it includes cultural and business background,” Dai said.


He said businessman-run newspaper did not affect the cultural perspective of Hong Kong.


He added, a scholar-run newspaper has considered commercial factor in order to earn more money as well as businessman-run newspaper.


Being called as a cultural desert, it should not blame on the mode of running newspaper change from scholar-run to businessman-run. It is just a product that produced by society, Dai said.
