Hong Kong people are not familiar to their motherland, China

By ASHLEY HAU, Siu-ki

Oct 30 - The feeling of anti-communism is blazing in Hong Kong in recent years, but Candy Lo, the Deputy Chief Editor of Hong Kong China News Agency spoke to students in Shue Yan University that no one could ignore the role of China nowadays, especially Hong Kong.

Some people claimed the relationship of "One country, Two systems" between China and Hong Kong was declining, but Lo said: “The term of ‘Two systems’ is behind ‘One country’. It is an affirmative truth that there should not be any partiality.”

She added that Hong Kong people were not familiar to the situation in China, even China was the motherland to Hong Kong. She thought we should have more understanding of China since the reformation in 30 years ago. She continued that even her friend who was being a Chinese History teacher did not have comprehensive knowledge of China. She doubted the ability of teachers in Hong Kong to teach students about the situation in China.

Lo said China had her own and special situation, which was different from other developed countries. She believed China would be more transparent in the future. "I also hope the reporting topics of our news agency can be more widened," she said.
