In recently years, yellow journalism seems to be inevitable for Hong Kong’s newspapers industry. Sensational, sanguinary or erotic headings and pictures are easily found so as to attract readers’ eye balls. Candy Lo, Deputy Chief Editor of Hong Kong China News Agency, worries about such unhealthy sign in Hong Kong and thinks Hong Kong reporters should have their own well and fair judgments in reporting.

“Hong Kong is a rather small city which mainly about business and financial activities. And as you may know, this kind of activities has an interdependent linkage with politics. Therefore, I do think Hong Kong reporters should have their own insights instead of using something which is not yet verified to draw readers’ attention.” Says Candy Lo.

“Using the protest of national curriculum as an example. I think we should report it fairly and without any biases. We have to know why some people support or deny it. It’s very important for us to have our own judgments and ideas. Because only good questions lead to good answers.” says Candy Lo.

Candy Lo reminds Hong Kong reporters do not do low-class reports but have to look outside the box, to stand higher and to look further. --105125 2012年11月2日 (五) 09:48 (UTC)
