How to balance in the media environment?

Cheung Man Yee is the Ex Director of Broadcasting in Hong Kong. Now she is the Vice Chairman, Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund. Hong Kong Shue Yan University invited her to give a speech to student. The topic is "The Hong Kong Media Scene Before and After 1997"

Cheung Man Yee said “It was a must to have the uncouth conversation in the film. Because these words can help the character show feature in the social level. According to the issue of Broadcasting Authority warn TVB rebroadcast the film of “An Autumn’s Tale ”in unsuitable time and the film content was not good for children.

She thought“An Autumn’s Tale ” is the top ten film in Hong Kong .The editing and directing are good. She insists that it was essence to keep the creative freedom. People have common sense to judge that the conversation in the film is normally. It would not lead people to study the wrong words.

Also, RTHK TV program “Hong Kong Connection”‘s Gay Lovers was judged that the content is unfair and not complete content ,create an effect that agree the same gender in love by the Broadcasting Authority . Cheung said media report is not equal to promotion. Media have the responsibility to report all levels voice in the society, include the weaker parties. It was not an essential part in the same program to have an opposite opinion. It was non sense to judge that the program content is bias the gay person. The media need to impartial and objectively to report the issue’s real emotion. “We don’t need to hit left and hit right at the same thing and same time. The balance point is history” Cheung pointed out.
