Huff Post is coming to Hong Kong and eyes China

Chris C. Anderson, the senior editor of the Huffington Post(Huff Post), said they are going to launch their news website in Asian, Japan and Hong Kong, at a local university in the afternoon.

The senior editor said they may copy the development way in Spain to Hong Kong.In Spain, Huff Post dealed with a Spanish newspaper, El Pais, to have a partnership. It is foreable that Huff post will coorperate with one of the newspaper organisation in Hong Kong. He added that they will also hire the local workers.

He mentioned that the purpose of the developing news website in Hong Kong is helping the people to tell their story. Comment filter will remain to ensure effective communication between users.

He said now is not the time for Huff Post to enter China as they would not regulate or restrict the content. He added that they will keep eye on China as there a huge number of online readers. They need time to study the China model.

The Huffington Post is one of the top American online news website. In 2011, Arianna Huffington with her co-founders sold the Huffington Post to American Online (AOL), the internet service provider in US, for US$315 million (HKD$ 2.45 billions). Arianna Huffington remains as the editor-in-chief.
