Humans are destroying themselves

Hong Kong Observatory is quite depend on technology to predict the weather nowadays. However, The director of Hong Kong Observatory, Mr. Lam Chiu Ying, likes nature so much. He doesn’t like using too much technology. Even his mobile phone, computer are so old. He also said that climate won civilization. He said at Shue Yan College on 14th November 2006. He shared his view of ‘ Climatology and civilization’ to student.

Climate affects humans. Appearing human was not by accident. Humans were born by the stage of nature. Since humans need continent for living. If there wasn’t any continent, humans can’t construct their livelihood.

Even climate can control the history of humans. For example in China history, there were a lot of dynasties. Some dynasties, such as Tang and early period of Qing dynasty, which were so prosperous, ‘ They were so lucky that the climate were quite warm in order to let crops grew very well.’ Mr. Lam said.

Now climate is changing. The temperature is higher and higher because of human being as well. Due to humans use a lot of energy such as driving car, bathing that using a lot of hot water, air conditioner in order to destroy ozonosphere. ‘Therefore, everybody take responsibilities to led to change of climate. And a lot of diseases are created and muted such as SARS, Bird flu and Dengue fever etc’. Mr. Lam said with emotional impulse.

'Because of civilization, climate is changed in order to led circumstances are changed as well such as allopatric condition are changed, disaster are created, humans' society and economic are unrest’. Mr. Lam further explained.

Hong Kong Government tried to carry out ' Action Blue Sky' by cleaning sky with reduce steps of live hood. Mr. Lam, however, said protecting nature was not only government's work, but everybody also has obligation as well. He encouraged people should use energy as little as possible.

Mr. Lam Chiu Ying is a director of Hong Kong Observatory. He was criticized in a few month ago that typhoon Prapiroon was so strong. A lot of people criticized why Hong Kong Observatory didn't host no. 8 signal, but just hosting 3 signals.

Besides, Mr. Lam likes watching different kinds of birds after his work. He even felt that people could interact with birds. And watching could let people expend their sight.
