Ricky Wong Wai-kay, chairman of HKTV, responded towards a government declaration that explains its decision on television licence bids in Hong Kong Shue Yan University and said ‘the government is wrong, and I will prove them wrong in next two days.’

The government’s declaration reiterated that an unlimited licenses amount does not equal to applicants could get the license once they meet the requirement. However, Ricky Wong responded that the information he got was an opposite one, which meant that HKTV would get the license if it meets the requirement. He said, ‘the government is wrong. Even when this issue is put on court, the judge will surely say the same thing as me.’

The Legislative Council will vote to pass the Powers and Privileges Ordinance to investigate the decision of Executive Council on new TV licenses. The government declaration also aims to convince the councilors to reject the Ordinance.

Earlier today, the government issued another declaration opposing HKTV’s request on disclosing the consultation report. Ricky Wong revealed they actually did not promise the government on not disclosing the confidential report. He said he would think some ‘creative’ ways to disclose the report. "We won’t cross the moral boundaries, but we will do something to force the government to disclose all the documents," said Wong.

A student asked whether Wong would disclose some of the proofs he has in the talk. Wong refused the request and said he wanted everyone to watch the ‘finale’. But he did say he would disclose the proofs within two days.
