Improve ATV by a Negative Start

Dewy Ip, working in television production for 30 years, thinks working in ATV is starting from negative. Dewy Ip, the Executive Vice President of Asia Television Limited (ATV), admitted that the audience rating of ATV is 20% for many years. He thinks that the problem is related on the team spirit, but not the shortage of resources. He describes his work in ATV is harder then setting up oversea channels by zero. "It seems starting from negative," Ip said. Ip thinks that being a socially responsible media, ATV has replaced the 1.5hours long drama programmes in Prime Time. He hope it could help the audience to gain from the programmes. “ATV are making difference, we want the audience to think more objective, not just watch the dramas.” Ip said. He admitted ATV audience rating is lower than TVB but ATV is the first TV station which not broadcasting dramas in Prime Time in Hong Kong. Ip believes the two local televisions do not have big difference but ATV team spirit is much weaker. He thinks the disadvantage of ATV is not lead by lack of resources. He explained that enough resources can bring advantages to run the television but resources shortages cannot be used as an excuse. “Creative ideas are more important to the transform.” Ip said.
