Mr. Law Yuk Kai, the director of the Human Rights Monitor commented that the human rights issues in Hong Kong are not treated as an important issue when he visited Hong Kong Shue Yan College this Tuesday.
“Human rights in Hong Kong does not gain much concerns. There is no particular government department in Hong Kong specializes in dealing with the human rights issues.” One thing to protect the human rights of Hong Kong citizens in the Basic Law Article 4, it is the only law in Hong Kong that can protect the human rights of citizens.
Law also thought that Hong Kong Government should put more effort on educating our next generation about the human rights in Hong Kong. “People in Hong Kong are lack of human rights and human rights laws concepts. Government should enhance to educate students about the human rights issue and teach them how to protect themselves.”
At last, he said that set up laws to protect privacy is not the best way to solve the problem, educate the youngsters and let them know the importance of moral is more important than everything.
