Ivan Yau: Look back to my reporting life

'(article) Media is powerful and influential. It is extremely important to ensure (article) truth of sources and informations before release them to the public,' said Ivan Yau, the experienced media specialist. Being a reporter for more than a decade, Ivan thinks that working in the media industry is challenging. 


He recalled the unforgettable memory of reporting the serious fire of Garley Buildaing in 1996. 'It was sad. As the reporters, we are very likely be the first one who (experirnce-spel/past tense) these unfortunate in(cc)idents and victims (cannot experience a victim).' He stressed that controlling emotion is vital to maintain a professional and neutral report(ing-omit).


He also believes that media is taking the role of watchdog in the society. 'I felt sense of achievement when doing investigating reporting. But it needs patience to do many observations and investigating,' said Ivan. He also thinks that investigating report is important that can disclose the dark side of the society. 'Reporters should make use of their abilities to discover unfairness in society (that related-choose between that is related, or that relates) to the public interests,'added Ivan.


He concluded that when the news today became tomorrow's history, people should learn from them and should not make the same mistakes again.
