JCD said The Palace Museum posters in MTR is advertisement

Reported by Leung Tsz Wun The way government claimed that the Palace Museum poster put up on the Central MTR station last month was an exhibition, arose the dissatisfaction of many Hong Kong citizens.

The government also announced that part of the money spent on this ‘exhibition’ was donated by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, which didn’t really spend much money.

JCDecaux Pearl & Dean ltd is an advertising agent which response for advertisement for MTR. The managing Director of JCDecaux Pearl & Dean ltd, Shirley Chan responded,’ I don’t know whether it is advertisement or not, but we only do advertisement.’

Chan also said, she just treated the poster as a advertisement as she is one of the staffs of a advertising agent. She added,’ JCDecaux Pearl & Dean ltd. didn’t get involved in any political turmoil as this poster didn’t related to any political topics.’ She emphasized, the only function of the poster is to promote what the client wanted to promote, there is nothing related to the political stand of JCDecaux Pearl & Dean ltd..

For the issue of Tat Ming Pair concert posters are taken down after it got complained. Chan said, every single advertisement they posted on the MTR has been approved. ‘We got a very clear order on when will we post oit in the stations.’ She emphasized. She said it was the client request to take down the posters, not the MTR itself. ‘All advertisements put up in MTR are subject to professional approval procedures and they are all subject to the Hong Kong laws.’ She added, after internal consultation, the company's colleagues also believe that there are no problems with putting up the poster in the station.
