(Watch your deadline next time. How did he show his confidence? Is HKTV an airline which failed to get an operating license? Does the basic law forbid Australia company running an airline in Hong Kong? Your report has omitted one interesting aspect of the story. Shun Tak Holdings is a company owned by the legendary casino tycoon Stanley Ho and his family. His name alone would attract more readers than you think.)

CEO of Jetstar , Edward Lau, showed his strong confidence to apply a license although he admitted that it takes a long time for the government to approve that.

Lau said that Jetstar would not repeat what HKTV met, which failed to get the license. He stressed that the structure of Jetstar is promising and able to satisfy the criteria of granting a license. Lau also said that Jetstar has always communicate with government about the license application, and it seems no reasons for the official to reject it.

Cathay Pacific has accused that Jetstar was operated by an Australia company and its application for license violated the Basic Law. Lau argued that its accusation is invalided. He claimed that Jetstar HK is an airline company under a joint venture among Jetstar Group, China Eastern Airlines Corp, and Hong Kong-listed Shun Tak Holdings Ltd, who owned more than half shares of Jetstar. Therefore, “Cathay Pacific is make something under nothing”, said by Lau.
